The more than N$500 million rehabilitation of the B1 road section between the Gochas junction in the Hardap Region and Tses Junction in the ||Kharas Region has been completed two months before the completion date.

||Kharas governor Aletha Frederick revealed this when she handed over a certificate of appreciation to the contractor who was awarded a N$532-million rehabilitation project.

China Henan International Corporation Group was contracted to rehabilitate the road stretching 87,8 kilometres.

"As all of us know, the government of this country is committed in terms of road infrastructure development, and on that basis, or, let me say, on that background, the government is investing to upgrade the road infrastructure in this country. We had this project in the two regions, Hardap and ||Kharas respectively, starting from the Gochas junction to the Tses junction. The road was actually completed yesterday; the handover was done to the Road Authority, but the official handover will be next year in February: "

The road rehabilitation project created 845 jobs during the construction phase.
