A Catholic nun from the Benedictine Sisters of Oshikuku decided to spread some festive season cheer to the elderly at Utokota village in Shambyu, Kavango East Region.

This is Sister Wilhelmine Mukosho.

The locals here describe her as a warm-hearted individual who will do almost anything to uplift her community.

When the nbc News team visited Utokota Village in Shambyu, Mukosho had invited the elderly from the community to take part in what she calls a belated Christmas celebration.

She says the idea is to allow the elderly to have a lighthearted day away from their daily domestic responsibilities. Even if it's just for a few hours.

It was a joyous affair as the elderly sang and danced the day away.

The local learners were the entertainment for the elderly audience, incorporating praise and appreciation for the senior citizens within their songs.

The elderly were also treated to a Christmas play by the youngsters.

After all the fun, the senior citizens enjoyed a simple meal of rice, vegetables, and fried fish.

Mukosho says it's not a lot, but at least the elderly will feel appreciated.
