A suspect was fatally shot by City Police officers after trying to flee from a house-breaking incident in Khomasdal.

The incident occurred at around three this morning when City Police members attempted to verbally stop two male suspects who were breaking into a house in Khomasdal and broke the gate.

The police warned the suspects not to flee the scene, but the two started running while shooting at the City Police members.

In defence, the City Police members retaliated, and one of the suspects was unfortunately hit by a bullet.

He was declared dead by paramedics.

The police weekend crime report also noted the death of Shiimi Onesmus Major,  who died after he was allegedly stabbed once with a knife in the chest by a known suspect.

It is alleged that the suspect and Shiimi followed each other when they walked out of a shebeen where they were drinking.

The suspect allegedly turned to Shiimi and stabbed him with a knife in the chest, inflicting a deep wound, and as a result, he died on the spot.

The suspect fled the scene, and he is still on the run.

In another incident, a woman was arrested after she was found in possession of illegal fuel and failed to provide proof of purchase.

It is alleged that the driver of a white Toyota twin-cab pickup with Ondangwa registration was driving through the village after diverting and avoiding passing through the Okatope Police roadblock between Ondangwa and Omuthiya.

The suspect was found in possession of 45 of the 25-liter containers of diesel fuel, one 20-litre container of diesel, and five-coma-five-litre containers of diesel.

The fuel has a street value of over N$25,000.

She is expected to appear in the Ondangwa Magistrates Court on Monday.
