The |Khomas Education Director, Paulus Nghikembua, says improved NSSCO and NSSCAS performances are the result of a deliberate strategy, including induction at schools, heads of departments, principals, and teachers.

The results, Nghikembua says, are representative of quality education, teaching, and learning.

Nghikembua says they are prepared for the new school year, though he adds that there is still a need for capacity building among teachers to ensure the standard of education is upheld.

This, he says, requires collective effort.

Unions and student organisations also pronounced themselves on the results.

Students Union of Namibia President Bernhard Kavau hailed the results, particularly given the improved overall symbols.

Results among boy children also show a marked improvement over last year.

Eleven males were among the top 20 best performers, Kavau says.

He, however, raised concern over the poor performance in local languages, which he said needs addressing.

The President of the Teachers Union of Namibia, Mahongora Kavihuha, attributed the slight improvements to shared efforts by stakeholders in the education sector.

Kavihuha observed that the best performers were mainly boarding school learners, advising that more attention be directed to boarding schools, including those currently abandoned.

Kavihuha stated that the union is busy studying the results in detail and will provide a comprehensive response.
