Euphoria has taken hold of Namibia following the Brave Warriors' historic 1-0 win over Tunisia in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

This is Namibia's fourth appearance at AFCON, Africa's soccer showpiece, but they never tasted victory, finishing bottom of their group in each of the three previous participations.

Prior to this, Namibia had lost seven of its nine matches at the Africa Cup of Nations. Only Benin and Mozambique have played more AFCON games than Namibia without ever winning.

However, those statistics have been turned on their head with winger Deon Hotto's net-bulging header in the 88th minute, giving Namibia victory over the much-fancied Tunisia.

President Hage Geingob led the celebrations with a post on X, congratulating the Brave Warriors. President Geingob stated that "there are no small teams playing at this tournament. It was first-class soccer from a first-class team. I am the happiest Namibian today."

This summed up the state of the nation as many other Namibians locally and abroad took to social media to celebrate the victory with Brave Gladiator Zenatha Coleman, who plies her trade with Fenerbahce in Turkey, leading the celebrations.

Popular and well-respected South African football pundit and radio personality Robert Marawa also celebrated Namibia's win with a post on X, displaying the Namibian flag.

It is safe to say that the entire region of southern Africa is eagerly looking forward to Sunday's derby between Namibia and South Africa.
