The ||Kharas Regional Council has explained the reasons for its decision to relieve three Swapo Party councillors of their council duties. 

The LPM-dominated council on Thursday resolved to dismiss councillors Lazarus Nangolo, Suzan Ndjaleka, and Taimi Amakali at a special council meeting held on Thursday. 

The ||Kharas Regional Council Chairperson announced the removal of the three Swapo Party political office bearers from the council at a media conference held at Keetmanshoop.

"The offences committed are raging from absconding meetings without valid reasons as per Section 10 of the Regional Councils Act 22 of 1992. Deliberately and with malicious intent, of trying to sabotage the council. Refusing to fill vacant positions in the management committee with the intention of causing the council to fail. Unable to justify their absence from the management."

Isaack listed other contributing reasons as their failure to uphold the Constitution and the country's laws, dishonesty towards the electorate, failure to take the oath of office, and allegedly misleading those who elected them into power. 

Probed on the way forward, regarding the leadership vacuum left by the dismissal of the councillors, Isaack had this to say.

"I already engaged with the leader of my political party, and we have some suggestions that are now premature for the public domain to inform, but we'll definitely have the management of the council functioning."

Isaack also addressed the potential for by-elections resulting from the axing of the three council members.

"I don't know which consideration the Commission will undergo in order to give us those answers, but for us, if there is a by-election, we are ready."
