Botswana's President Mokgweetsi Masisi has arrived in Windhoek.

Masisi is on a short visit to Namibia to meet with President Nangolo Mbumba, after which the two Presidents will visit former First Lady Monica Geingos, widow of the late Namibian President, Dr. Hage Geingob, at her residence.

President Masisi is the first foreign Head of State to arrive in Namibia, following the news of the passing of President Geingob.

This also translated into the elevation of bilateral relations between Namibia and Botswana.

Last year, Namibia and Botswana scrapped the need for passports when travelling between the two countries.

Travellers now only need to present their identification documents at exit and entry points in Namibia and Botswana.

He is expected to return to Gaborone this afternoon.
