The Oshana Regional Governor, Elia Irimari, has extended a message of condolence, expressing his wishes for strength to the family of former President Geingob during this period of mourning.

The death of President Dr. Hage Geingob has sent shockwaves through the sports fraternity in Namibia.

Geingob was an avid sports enthusiast who made significant contributions to the development of sports in the country.

NBC Sport spoke to Oshana Regional Governor Elia Irimari at his office in Oshakati as he extended his message of condolences.

The governor explained that the Namibian sports industry has lost an advocate for sports, someone who always ensured that all sports codes were equally important in the country. 

Iirimari urges the sports sector in the country to continue working hard and putting Namibia on the world map to honor the late president's legacy.

The Oshana governor also calls for unity among Namibians, especially during this period of mourning.
