Mourners from the Hardap Region joined the rest of the country in ensuring that the late President Hage Geingob received a dignified and befitting farewell as a leader who had left an unforgettable mark on their hearts and the course of their shared history.

They gathered at the Aimablaagte Community Hall in Mariental to join in on the livestream of the memorial service and burial, organised by the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology in Hardap Region.

Despite physical limitations and a geographical distance of 247 kilometres from the capital where the events unfolded, a collective sense of grief and unity compelled community members of the Hardap Region to come together to witness the President's burial.

The hall was packed with people of all age groups, with each face reflecting a mixture of sadness and gratitude for the leader who has guided the nation since 2015.

With heavy hearts, some shared memories of how they would remember the late President.

A sombre moment was also experienced as mourners joined in the singing of hymns in honour of the late President.

They also stood together with those at the Heroes Acre as the coffin was being lowered into its final resting place.
The silence in the hall spoke immense volumes, broken by the inability of some to hold back tears for a man widely regarded as a hero.

The memories of this solemn weekend, where the sunset on a leader's final journey, will forever remain with the Namibian nation as a reminder of the incredible impact Dr. Geingob had on a nation and its people.
