Some community members at Epukiro RC in the Okorukambe Constituency are requesting the former community council chairperson, Reinhard Morwe, and his team to hand over all documents, livestock branding equipment, and a financial report to the community, amongst others.

The concerned group shared this during a demonstration.

According to the group spokesperson, Calista Madi, the term of office of the former community council lapsed last February, and a new council has been elected.

Madi adds that the former councillors are reluctant to hand over relevant documents, which delays community progress.

Also in the petition, the group states that the current council has on several occasions requested a meeting with the former leadership to solve the matter, but it has never materialised as they are always making excuses.

"It is evident that your council mismanaged community funds, as the financial report presented by your council on October 16, 2023, indicated whereby it was observed, and by your own admission, the report proved to be not the true reflection; it was not comprehensive enough to deal with all the transactions known to some community members and not included in the report."

When approached for comment, the former Community Council Chairperson, Reinhard Morwe, informed nbc News that the current council has access to everything, but he admits that the financial report is delayed and the community is aware of the delay as he refused to divulge more about the matter.

Morwe also added that the issue is now in court and they are waiting for the outcome.
