Brazil and Namibia signed a pivotal naval agreement thirty years ago, which has become a cornerstone of regional stability and maritime security.

Brazil's ambassador to Namibia, Vivian SanMartin, at the meeting to celebrate 30 years of the agreement at the Brazil Ambassador's Residence in Windhoek, hailed the Brazil-Namibia naval cooperation.

SanMartin emphasised the enduring commitment both nations share to preserving ocean resources and ensuring sustainable maritime environments.

She further commended the two nations for their close cooperation, reiterating that the collaboration has helped in enhancing maritime capabilities and promoting maritime safety.

SanMartin also highlighted that in 2009, the Brazilian Marines advisory technical team was established in Walvis Bay, which paved the way for extensive training initiatives that culminated in the formation of the Namibian Marine Corps in 2016.
