President Nangolo Mbumba says the government is concerned over chieftaincy succession disputes, causing leadership vacuums within traditional authorities. 

The Head of State made the remark while addressing traditional leaders at Keetmanshoop. 

As part of his four-day visit to the ||Kharas Region, President Mbumba met with the traditional leaders to introduce himself as head of state and hear their concerns. 

"There are things that are truly important to all of us. Don't think we in government enjoy seeing truly that our traditions or traditional leaders are divided, cousin against, brother against, sister against, brother against sister? Do you think we sleep well because you are divided? The other thing is that, you are saying government, we want government to do this for us, we want government to support us so that we do things that must be done for each and every community."

President Mbumba also implored the traditional leaders to encourage young people to further their studies. 

The Head of State also urged the traditional leaders to go out and register to vote in the national elections slated for November 27. 

Also speaking at the occasion was the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Erastus Uutoni.

"More particularly, to the traditional authority, currently who do not have substantive chiefs due to either passing on chief or otherwise, just to encourage us to unite and work together to listen to the advice the minister has given you so that we can move forward."

Dr. Mbumba is expected to officiate at the UNAM Southern Campus graduation ceremony at Keetmanshoop tomorrow.
