Some members of the Gobabis Management Committee expressed dismay, saying they feel undermined by fellow councillors as decisions taken at meetings are not implemented timely.
This, they say, delays proposed development plans.
Speaking at the media briefing, the Chairperson of the Management Committee, Isaac De Beer, stated that he is disappointed by the way some members of the management committee operate.
He said some fellow MC members override decisions taken and, in the end, just do as they please, something that affects operations.
One of the councillors, Elvire Theron, says the council recently agreed on a four percent salary increment for staff members, the signing of the Alensy contract, and the appointment of the electrical consultant, where procedures were not followed.
Theron says that all these decisions will cost an already financially struggling institution that still owes Nampower and Namwater millions of dollars in debt.
Gobabis Mayor Melba Tjozongoro explained that decisions taken by the Chief Executive Officer through the Council are in line with the Local Authorities Act and are in the best interest of the institution.
Tjozongoro also added that the council will embark on a new project of introducing a solar plant that will bring in much-needed development, and Alensv Company will help achieve this goal.
The mayor also revealed that the Minister of Urban and Rural Development is expected to meet with the leadership in due course to discuss the municipality's operations.
