The Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security, Albert Kawana, reaffirmed the government's commitment to infrastructure development when he inaugurated immigration facilities at Impalila and Kasika in the Zambezi Region.

Dr. Kawana, who was accompanied by the Police Inspector General, Joseph Shikongo, visited Impalila Island and Kasika in Kabbe South Constituency.

The newly inaugurated immigration facilities include four staff houses at Impalila and an immigration office, while Kasika has three staff houses and an immigration office.

Impalila and Kaskika draw a substantial number of tourists, crucial for the economy of the region.

Another immigration facility at the Machenje border post between Namibia and Zambia will soon be completed.

The Home Affairs Minister called upon immigration officials to treat all travellers with courtesy, pointing out that immigration officials are the face of any country at entry and exit points.

"Therefore, officials, it is with your support, and those charged with maintenance must ensure that the facility does not degrade; these are facilities to serve the Namibian nation; therefore, they should also benefit the future generation. In conclusion, service delivery at this border post must be professional and in line with the training of our immigration officials."

Dr. Kawana said infrastructure development is the cornerstone of development in any country.
