President Nangolo Mbumba paid a visit and laid a wreath on the grave of the late Alpo Mauno Mbamba at Mupini Village in the Kavango West Region.
President Mbumba and the late Mbamba were classmates from 1960 to 1965 at Ongwediva and Oshingabo High Schools.
Dr. Alpo Mauno Mbamba died in Paris in 2001.
First Lady Sustjie Mbumba accompanied the family to receive the remains of Dr. Mbamba and brought them back home at the time.
The Head of State also visited the school named after the late Mbamba where he gave a word of encouragement to the learners and the staff.
The school has 704 learners from grades 8 to 11 and 26 teaching staff.
The president handed a gift to the school that was not disclosed and also accepted the proposal to name the school hall after him.
The school presented a portrait of the president done by a school learner as a token of appreciation.
