The |Khomas Regional Council has launched a series of health initiatives across various constituencies to bring essential services closer to the people.
Residents of the Moses ||Garoëb constituency were the beneficiaries of these vital health services over the weekend.
The Regional Council's comprehensive approach combines an HIV prevention campaign with other critical health services.
This initiative underscores the council's commitment to combating public health challenges through education, awareness, and prevention strategies.
The Deputy Director of Regional Planning at the Khomas Regional Council, Franklin Chilinda, highlighted the council's mandate to deliver essential services.
"In fact, the whole purpose of the government is to bring regional councils to you, which means they are giving you the government to elect your leaders. Among the responsibilities that we have. One of them is to make sure that we coordinate HIV services. At the end of the day, we want people to know that they should not die in silence. There are people out there to assist them."
Residents of Havana were provided with services, including sexual and reproductive health rights, HIV testing, primary healthcare initiatives, and immunisations for children.
Residents welcomed the gesture, saying it had lessened the long distance they had to walk to access such services.
Other campaigns were held in Windhoek Rural, John Pandeni, and Khomasdal constituencies.
