The Chairperson of the Bernafay Community Cooperative, Johannes Jossob, is pleased with the effort and commitment made by the government to assist resettled communities to be productive.
One such community is resettled at Farm Bernafay in the Mariental Rural constituency.
The government resettled 14 households at Farm Bernafay in 2002 with the idea of venturing into crop and livestock farming.
Water has always been a problem; however, boreholes have been drilled through partnership.
Apart from crop and livestock rearing, poultry and fishpond projects will be introduced.
"I'm very pleased and grateful to the government for assisting us on the farm because, if you know about the history in the past and how the farm was and is now, you can see that we are moving to the future, which looks bright for life, so I would say I'm thankful and we will somehow, sometimes, plough back to the government," said Jossob.
Several young people will be employed in the projects to improve the living standards and livelihood of the community.
Children at Farm Bernafay also have access to a primary school a few kilometres away, however, the community needs a clinic and a better mobile network.
