|Khomas residents have expressed dissatisfaction with the way consultations regarding the proposed demarcation of the |Khomas Region boundaries were conducted.

Some of the residents who attended a meeting of the Boundaries Delimitation and Demarcation Commission said they were not given an opportunity to provide input.

|Khomas Governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua stated that the region will remain as it is.

However, a portion of the Samora Machel Constituency, which has the highest population of 92,401 inhabitants, can be divided into two parts.

Once the Samora Machell Constituency is split, the second one should be named John Otto Nankudhu, bringing the region's constituencies to 11.

"It has been realised that certain constituency boundaries are larger than other constituencies, and this poses a challenge with regard to the equitable distribution of resources and other goods and services to communities," said |Khomas Governor Laura McLeod-Katjirua.

However, some residents expressed discontent with the manner in which consultations were conducted, as only 71 people represented the whole constituency.

The idea of waiving a portion to John Pandeni was also not welcomed by some.

The consultations for the |Khomas Region will no longer continue tomorrow as planned to allow more time for further deliberations at the constituency level.

This will enable the leadership to submit a comprehensive report that incorporates all, if not the majority, of the residents' input.

Consultations with the Commission are expected to resume in two weeks' time, and the new dates will be communicated in due course.

All residents are advised to attend consultations in their constituencies.
