Residential and business land is in high demand at Okongo Village in the Ohangwena Region, with more than 2,000 applicants on a waiting list.

The Council has awarded a tender to Nicodemus Grey-wall Properties to build 80 houses at block eight Okongo proper, ranging from one-bedroom to three-bedroom housing units.

The council only provided bulk services at Block 8, and the developer is expected to provide internal infrastructure services such as water, sewer, and electrical and street lighting.

Another development is awarded to Epic Trading to construct 135 residential properties.

The council also allocated 28 plots last year for the construction of shack dweller houses, where clients drawn from the waiting list will be given the opportunity to build their own houses.

100 houses that were allocated in the 2021–2022 financial year are already occupied.

Okongo village council has allocated 25 plots to OLC Properties to construct houses for middle-income earners in block 103.

The village council has also surveyed portions A, B, and C, which will comprise 982 erven, mostly low-cost residential plots, a few businesses, public open space, and educational institutions.
