Over the weekend, the United Legends Football Club organized an exciting mini-tournament aimed at keeping veterans football vibrant and active in the Oshana region.

Over 200 senior footballers gathered at the Ekango Sports Field in Ongwediva to participate in this social event, promoting unity, support, and brotherhood among aging footballers.

The mini-tournament also served as a preparatory get-together for the upcoming Legends tournament in the coming months.

Although the competition aimed to secure ranks and bragging rights, participants were not permitted to play aggressively to avoid unnecessary injuries, given their age and fitness levels.

Sports producer Erickson Tapiso spoke with the chairman of Northern Coaches, Telmore Muti, to provide further insights into the tournament.SB

Meanwhile, at the same event, NBC Sport also spoke with event organizer Tirro Dengeinge and Rush Boom Chairman Bikkie Eric Seolwane, who explained more on the purpose of the tournament.

Lastly, we caught up with team captains Sargo Haufiku and Alex Itumba, who shared a brief history and their commitment to the tournament.

In the spirit of giving back to the community, the funds raised at the tournament will be donated to a selected charity.

The Legends Mini Tournament concluded with a 3-0 victory for United Legends over Rush Boom in the final.

The next Legends Tournament is scheduled to take place this weekend at Evululuko Sports Field in Oshakati.
