The Senior National Rugby Team will be in Uganda, where 8 nations will tussle it out in the 2024 Rugby Africa Cup Quarterfinals in Kampala.
The Rugby Africa Cup last took place in 2022 and served as a qualifier for the 2023 Rugby World Cup. Namibia won the 2022 edition, defeating Kenya's Simbas 36-0 in the final to qualify as Africa 1, while Kenya advanced to the final qualification tournament as Africa 2. Algeria secured third place by beating Zimbabwe 20-12.
The 2024 tournament features an 8-team knockout format and will be held in Kampala, Uganda, at Mandela National Stadium on Saturday, July 20.
In the first quarterfinal, 23rd-ranked Namibia will face 92nd-ranked Burkina Faso, while 2022 bronze medalist Algeria will take on Ivory Coast. The Sables of Zimbabwe are paired against hosts Uganda in the final Cup quarterfinal.
In an exclusive interview, Namibian Head Coach Allister Coetzee stated that due to their lack of experienced players, it will be a challenging encounter. However, he highlighted that it is an opportunity for new players.
He then expressed his expectations going into the Africa Cup Quarterfinal match against Burkina Faso.
The winner of the Namibia vs. Burkina Faso match will advance to the semifinals to play against the winner of Game 4, which will be either Zimbabwe or Uganda on Wednesday, July 24.
The Africa Cup final will take place next week on Sunday, July 28, at 15:00.
