The Sam Nujoma Foundation has assured the nation that Founding President Sam Nujoma is recuperating well following "hospitalisation for a routine and precautionary medical procedure due to an infection."

The former President's personal physician, Dr. Tshali Ithete says Nujoma is in the care of a competent and dedicated team of health practitioners who are taking care of him.

The family, through the foundation, thanked the nation for keeping the former statesman in their prayers and called on Namibians to heed Nujoma's call to unity of purpose and action.
