The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security is urging individuals who have applied for identification documents to collect them as soon as possible.
These uncollected documents are piling up, not only in Windhoek but across regional offices, creating a significant backlog.
The ministry's Chief Public Relations Officer, Margaret Kalo, has raised concern regarding uncollected identification documents.
"During the recent mass registration drive, we registered a substantial number of people. However, we are now facing a backlog of uncollected IDs. As of today, over 141,000 IDs, processed since April 2021, remain uncollected. These documents are not only piling up here in Windhoek but are also stored in various regional offices across the country. We urge all citizens who applied for these IDs to visit their respective regional offices and collect them. It is crucial to collect these IDs to ensure that the registration process serves its intended purpose."
