In his fifth and technically final State of the Region Address, Omaheke Governor Pijoo Nganate said grassroots development within the region is of utmost importance.
The Omaheke region is one of the sport port hubs in Namibia, with the hosting of various sporting events and programmes.
Nganate's State of the Region Address, under the theme "We will deliver more, expect more!" was held in Gobabis, where the governor highlighted the successful hosting of the PsBet sponsored Governor's Cup to the tune of seventy-thousand Namibia dollars.
The region also successfully hosted this year's Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup at the Legare Stadium. Under the Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Services, Nganate said grassroots development plays a pivotal role in building a successful region.
The Ministry of Sport, Youth, and National Service's Directorate of Youth is at the helm of youth development, as such a lot of their work needs to go into ensuring that their programmes are geared towards creating the practical solutions that are desired by the young people of our region and at the grassroots level.
The State of the Region Addresses (SORAs) inform on the state of affairs of the region, report on the activities of the central government for the previous financial year, discuss the implementation status of national developmental programmes, and provide a roadmap for the year ahead.
