Omaheke Council aims to improve residents' living standards

The Omaheke Regional Council is aimed at improving the living standards of the local people through various interventions, such as employment creation and other capital projects. 

Speaking at the first ordinary council meeting at Gobabis, the Chairperson, Ignatius Kariseb, pointed out that agriculture is one of the key areas with immense potential to create job opportunities and address pressing social issues faced by communities, such as food insecurity.

Health Promoting Initiative Benefits Omaheke Schools

All 47 schools in the Omaheke Region are part of the Health Promoting Initiative Programme, aimed at improving their health and strengthening the teaching environment for better performance.

The initiative is a collaboration between the Ministries of Education and Health and the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Omaheke Governor Pijoo Nganate emphasised that quality education should be accompanied by good health. Hence, the initiative should be coordinated in a manner that will address health challenges in schools.

Chinese Ambassador meets Omaheke leadership

Namibia and Zimbabwe sign MoU

Namibia and Zimbabwe signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the areas of agriculture, industrialization, human capital, and local governance at Gobabis.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of Provisional Affairs and Devolution of Zimbabwe, Tafadzwa Muguti, emphasised that the agreement also focuses on social development.

MURD and Shack Dwellers Federation constructs 57 houses for low-income earners

The Ministry of Urban and Rural Development, in collaboration with the Shack Dwellers Federation and partners, has constructed 57 houses for low-income earners at Gobabis.

At the handover ceremony, Deputy Minister Natalia |Goagoses, reaffirmed the government's commitment to addressing the housing backlog and allowing more citizens a decent life.

|Goagoses stressed that housing is a basic right that every citizen should be able to enjoy.

Governor Nganate donates maize, cow pea seeds to community at Okahungu Village

The community of Okahungu Village in the Otjinene Constituency received seeds of maize and cowpeas through the office of the Omaheke Regional Governor.

Governor Pijoo Nganate called on the community to work hard to become self-sustainable, saying the seeds would help unlock food security at the household level.

Speaking at Okahungu, Regional Governor Pijoo Nganate urged the community to go the extra mile and spend time on their crop fields.

Namibia and Indonesia have agreed to cooperate in empowering youth with technical skills in the agriculture sector.

This was revealed during an engagement between the Omaheke Regional Governor, Pijoo Nganate, and the Ambassador of Indonesia to Namibia, Winsu Edi Pratignyo, at Gobabis in the Omaheke Region.

The two leaders discussed the significance of the agriculture sector and its role in supporting local communities.

The duo also agreed on exchange programs between an Indonesian province and the Omaheke Region, especially in the area of vocational training.

Omaheke delegation from Zimbabwe benchmarking visit urged to implement lessons learnt

Farmers and officials from the Omaheke Region who were on a benchmarking visit to Harare, Zimbabwe, have been urged to implement what they learned from their counterparts, particularly in the dairy industry.

The call was made by Governor Pijoo Nganate at the end of the visit.

Nganate says those who accompanied him must implement and share what they have learned with others in their respective constituencies.
