The Omaheke Regional leadership has commended the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) and the Miss Namibia Organisation for successfully hosting the historic 2026 Miss Namibia pageant in Gobabis.
Omaheke Governor Pijoo Nganate emphasised the dedication shown by the NBC, led by Miss Namibia Organisation National Director Beulah Boois-Beukes.
Nganate maintained that the region tried its best to offer all it had for this competition to happen.
“We said that whoever wins would become a product of Omaheke. We agreed that we would rely heavily on you to market this town and the region, and to showcase its potential. All of a sudden, they were saying on television that eight million people across SADC were watching this pageant. That is no small number. It is now up to us to decide what we are going to do with this new identity we have gained as a town. Many people have been asking what the next step for Omaheke will be. Now that the beauty pageant is over, what comes next? Through this experience, many people have discovered things about our region that even we ourselves were not aware of.”
Omaheke Regional Council Chairperson Rocco Nguvauva highlighted how strong teamwork can achieve anything.
"Thank you so much. I will be just behind your back wherever you are going and this is now the start as you have said. So let's see where we are going to take the other young ladies, and even ladies in the Region have started seeing the importance of the pageant. As they are saying, they want to become Miss Teen or Miss Namibia one day and also with that the business people in Omaheke they're now so happy, saying the Region has brought some profit.”
Boois-Beukes also thanked Omaheke leadership and residents for their contribution.
“The excursion, the Traditional Authority that hosted us it was just so beautiful to see as exposure to our culture to taste the food touch the clothes to dress up and you know we even had a traditional segment were everybody was wearing each other cultures so it was just so beautiful to see it and to watch everything to come together beautifully and we really just grateful that the region pulled together.”
The newly crowned Miss Namibia 2026, Charlene Labuschagne alongside her First Runner-Up and Miss Teen Namibia 2026, Rechelle Hamases shared their excitement and gratitude.
“We are really excited about what we can do for Omaheke and for showcasing this great region through my stories. This is just the beginning, and what a way to kick off an amazing journey,” stressed Labuschagne.
“In spaces like this, you have to honour people. Honourable Governor, I honour you, and I honour the efforts you have made to ensure this pageant is a success. I am so thankful that we can sit here and talk about collaboration because that is what we need. This is truly a team effort, so we are grateful and look forward to working with you to make this region a success,” added Hamases.
Miss Teen Namibia 2026, Jessica Kurth shared her future plans.
“I will continue with my advocacy as I want to continue making Namibia proud and that is what I'm here for showing my worth showing the impact that I can bring and making my culture proud and the Omaheke region.”
