Omaheke Governor Pijoo Nganate described the death of Member of Parliament James Uerikua as having robbed the country of a visionary, valuable, and talented young man who had the chance of shaping the lives of many.

Conveying his message of condolence on behalf of the region, Nganate pointed out that Uerikua will be remembered for his strong desire to advocate for rural development and uplift marginalised communities in Namibia.

Nganate said as a public servant, Uerikua has served his people with regality, noting that he was a highly motivated person.

"James was very instrumental within the Omaheke Region, uplifting San communities and also looking at their wellbeing. We had many dreams during the numerous times we spent together in the fields, working to develop the land allocated for San people in Otjombinde, Epukiro, and Otjinene."

Nganate stated many got to know the late former Governor of Otjozondjupa through politics, but he was indeed an agriculturist of the modern era.

Uerikua died in a car accident alongside his firstborn, Venturo, over Easter weekend.

He is survived by his wife Kamuneua and three children.
