President Nangolo Mbumba and National Assembly Speaker Peter Katjavivi have opened up to speak about their best friend, the late Dr. Hage Geingob.

In an exclusive interview, the duo, who were both born in 1941, the same year as the late Dr. Geingob, paid a moving tribute to the late President, also recalling their last moments with him.

To say they were best friends with the late President Geingob is an understatement. 

A towering figure in the fight against Apartheid, a gallant comrade in the liberation struggle, and a true statesman who dedicated his life in service to Namibia.

These are just some of the fitting tributes used by the diplomatic corps in Ghana, joined by Namibians and Ghanaians during the memorial service in Accra.

The service honoured the life and legacy of the late President Geingob by Namibia's High Commission to Ghana.

The people of the Kunene region gathered in solemn remembrance as they paid befitting tributes to the late President Hage Geingob during their regional memorial service held in Opuwo.

The atmosphere was filled with soothing hymns, poetry, and traditional mourning practices.

The Ombimbi cultural group led the procession in Dr. Geingob's honour.

Emotional scenes played out at Opuwo, as replications of cultural rituals of mourning practices by the Ovahimba and Ovaherero communities came to the fore in paying tribute to Dr. Geingob.

The business community in the Erongo Region gathered in numbers to pay respect to the one many refer to as a fallen giant, the late President Hage Geingob at Walvis Bay.

The colours black and white painted the hall as far as the eye could see, with mourners celebrating the late president's life and legacy by lighting candles.

They sang worship melodies and delivered messages of condolences and hope.

The Governor of the Erongo Region, Neville Andre, described the late Geingob as a visionary leader and a unifier of those in the Namibian House.

Dinapama Manufacturing Supplies held a candle lighting event in honour of the late Dr. Hage G. Geingob in Windhoek.

Hundeds of mourners gathered and shared scripture readings and hymns as part of remembering the late Geingob.

In condolence messages, the late president was described as a man with a beautiful soul, the one who cared for the elderly and had transformed the lives of many. 

The Managing Director of Dinapama David Namalenga says that the late Hage Geigob has inspired them to continue, as he has been there since they started Dinapama. 

In the Erongo Region, Swapo Party's Regional Coordinator, Daniel Muhuura, led a candlelight ceremony at Swakopmund.

Muhuura lauded the late President Geingob as a visionary leader who dedicated his life to the service of his country and its people.

At this difficult time, he said the party's thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of President Geingob, as well as the entire nation of Namibia.

Vendors in the capital have expressed sorrow and sadness over the death of Dr. Hage Geingob.

Vendors at Okuryangava Stop and Shop said, with the late President's administration, they have not experienced having their products confiscated by authorities for operating in the streets.

Such incidents, they say, were always solved amicably in order for them to continue making ends meet.

nbc reporter Hendrina Kanyolo took to the streets to find out from the business community how the late president's death has affected them.

The Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade honoured the late President Dr. Hage Geingob, who served as the minister from 2008 to 2012, for his significant contributions to expanding Namibia's trade and industrial initiatives.

The Ministry hosted a candlelight vigil to celebrate the life and legacy of the late President.

Minister Lucia Iipumbu addressed the mourners and narrated the achievements of the late President during his time as the Minister of the then Trade and Industry Ministry, which has since been renamed the Ministry of Industrialisation and Trade.

This year's festival is being held under the theme 'Faith, Love, and Hope'.
