The Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Emma Theofelus, says technology will not flourish without an enabling environment.
Theofelus, who was speaking at the inaugural tech hub conference at the Ongwediva Trade Fair, said the government will ensure that operators fully take on the advent of technology for the country's people.
The inaugural event held under the theme "Dive into the future with us, discover cutting-edge digital trends" brought together industry players who delved into the importance of ICT development and digital literacy.
The ICT Minister says Namibia is developing a digital literacy framework to ensure that they are standardised and of high quality, resonating with the consumers.
"As we navigate the complexities of the digital age, it is imperative that our policies and legislation are designed to address the increasing threats posed by cybercriminals. As we connect more of our citizens and businesses to the digital world, we must ensure that our cyberspace remains safe and secure."
MTC's Chief Executive Officer, Licky Erastus, said the company has grown tremendously over the years transitioning to a digital service solution provider.
"Our mission has always been to break barriers and connect people, drive progress, share expertise, and share industry solutions, and that is precisely what this tech conference is advancing by bringing industry leaders to share insights on essential industry topics whilst exhibiting sub-tech capabilities and solutions."
The event was held in conjunction with the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), MICT, the Namibia Electronics Sports Association, Huawei, and Ongwediva Town Council.
