Supreme court upholds CRAN's authority to impose regulatory levies

In a recent judgement, the Namibian Supreme Court upheld the Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia (CRAN) to impose regulatory levies on telecommunication service providers. 

The court ruled that CRAN's power to levy fees is subject to sufficient checks and balances, ensuring that the levies are not arbitrary or unconstitutional. 

This decision has significant implications for the telecommunications sector in Namibia.

Kalkfeld residents appeal to MTC to take services there

With the extension of the SIM card registration, Kalkfeld residents are calling on Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC) to visit their settlement again.

Just as with many others, some of the residents of Kalkfeld are still making their way to register their numbers, and the extension of the registration period by three more months was therefore good news to many, even those without registration points in their areas.

Katima Mulilo residents to get free public Wi-Fi

The Katima Mulilo Town Council and MTC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which will see the council provide its residents with free public Wi-Fi.

The Katima Mulilo Town Council's Chief Executive Officer, Raphael Liswaniso, said the council, with the help of MTC, aims to revolutionise their customers lives through innovative digital solutions.
