Tanzania's visiting Deputy Prime Minister Doto Mashaka Biteko has urged students at the Triumphant College in Windhoek to ensure that Africa stops importing goods and instead focuses on manufacturing items themselves.

"Africa should not be the recipient of recipes and prescriptions but should be part of the process to improve the livelihood on our continent."

Longstanding cooperation between Namibia and Tanzania, he says, has grown important and also expanded to key areas like education.

"Two countries have great opportunities in the field of education, the partnership between the University of Tanzania and this college is a shining example of shared commitment to introduce Swahili as a language to be taught at this college and to anyone interested in Namibia."

"The effort has three objectives, to unite African countries in their quest for quality and economic prosperity, this is what brought up Africanism on the continent."

The continent faces new challenges, and it is vital that countries stand in solidarity for economic transformation, Biteko said, urging African nations to prioritise economic development.

Also addressing the event was the Dean of Students at Triumphant College, Cliff Silishebo.

"Your words not only inspired us, but they also reinforced the importance of uniting and collaborating among African nations in navigating the complex of our global landscape.'
