The President of the All Peoples Party (APP) has expressed concern over the media's lack of presence and coverage during their 4th National Congress, which was held in Rundu last month.
Speaking at a media briefing, APP President Ambrosium Kumbwa claimed that despite invitations shared with the media, no one turned up to cover the congress.
The lack of coverage, he said, raises questions about the commitment to balanced and fair media coverage.
"Elections in Namibia are a crucial national event, and media houses play an essential role in ensuring that all political parties have an equal opportunity to communicate with the public. True support for multi-party democracy requires more than just words; it demands action and representation."
The Congress reviewed and endorsed amendments to the party's constitution, Code of Conduct, and Ethics Policy, and elected new leaders for the party.
At the congress, Kumbwa was elected as President, deputised by Linus Mushila, while Faustinus Wakudumo was elected the National Chairperson.
It also elected the central coordinating committee with representatives from all fourteen regions.
"The All Peoples Party is committed to enhancing democratic values and ensuring fair and diverse representation across Namibia. We look forward to engaging with the public and contributing positively to the political landscape in the upcoming elections."
APP further announced the 2024 Party Parliamentary list of 50, which was finalised during the elective convention this month.
In the top five are Ambrosius Kumbwa, Maria Kamutali, Linus Muchila, Faustinus Wakudumo, and Selma Mahina.
The party will launch its manifesto on the 5th of October in Rundu.
