The Inspector General of the Police, Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, has appealed to the Police Anti-stock-theft subdivision and a regional prosecutors team to find the best modalities on how to speed up the process of finalising pending livestock cases. 

Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo said the judiciary should work together with the police's team that deals with stock theft in a more coordinated manner, adding that there are cases of livestock impounded for years.

Shikongo says impounding animals for long robs their owners of their livelihoods.

"I also urge our brothers and sisters in the prosecution to work hand in hand with law enforcement to ensure that those cases are solved and that animals go back to their owners, forfeited, or disposed of in other forms. So is just an appeal really that I want to urge both the prosecution and investigators to finalize those cases."

Lieutenant General Shikongo also called on the farming community to remain patient while the matter is being addressed.
