Namib Mills has expressed "deep sorrow" following reports that three children died after consuming one of its instant porridge products in South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province.

Marné Bouwer, Senior Brand Manager at Namib Mills, emphasised that while there is no evidence linking their product to the incident, the company is taking the matter seriously, and as a precaution, Namib Mills has temporarily withdrawn all Top Score Instant Porridge from the market while an investigation is conducted.

Bouwer said Namib Mills is cooperating fully with authorities and has launched its own internal investigation to ensure transparency.

The company reassured consumers of its commitment to food safety, citing strict production protocols and rigorous testing of its products, including industry standard quality assessments.

She added that Namib Mills will provide ongoing updates through its social media channels and website to keep customers, stakeholders, and the public informed as they work to address the situation.
