The 7th annual Rundu Annual Trade Fair (RATF) is set to take place from the 25th of October to the 2nd of November.
Working to the realisation of the nine-day trade programme, at least more than N$900,000 was raised during the gala dinner.
The dinner also served as a platform for engagement, fostering collaboration and networking amongst stakeholders to ensure the successful hosting of the trade fair.
Proceeds from the trade fair help the council provide essential municipal services.
Speaking on behalf of the trade fair's patron, Deputy Prime Minister John Mutorwa, the Governor of Kavango East shared that over the years the RATF has grown in both scale and importance.
"I am proud to report that the RATF has experienced remarkable growth, attracting exhibitors from sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, and technology. In 2023, the event featured 128 exhibitors, including international participants, underscoring the international trade on the African continent. This progress is a testament to Namibia's success in promoting business trade and fostering cooperation among nations."
The Rundu annual trade fair also offers entertainment and education opportunities.
"The trade fair plays a vital role in the economic development of Rundu and its residents. It stimulated economic activity by attracting visitors and increasing sales for local businesses, thereby boosting revenue for the town. Moreover, it promotes entrepreneurship and innovation, encouraging the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises. Importantly, the event fosters community engagement and cultural exchange, strengthening the social fabric of Rundu," said the Strategic Executive for Community Services at the Rundu TC, Fransiska Kupembona.
This year's Rundu annual trade fair will be hosted under the theme: Fostering Sustainable Socio-Economic Growth through Investment.
Bernard Tjatjara and Incorporated Legal Practitioners is the main sponsor of the trade fair and sponsored N$100,000.
