Indonesia celebrated its 79th anniversary of independence.
At the celebration, the country reaffirmed its bond with Namibia and their people.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Namibia, Wisnu Edi Pratignyo, highlighted that the relationship between his country and Namibia has strengthened in recent years through various political, economic, and socio-cultural engagements.
Pratignyo also commended the Government of Namibia for the support rendered to its embassy in Namibia.
"I would not have been able to achieve my goal without their unwavering support from the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, as well as the other government institutions, business communities, my team at the Ministry, and my diplomatic colleagues in the diplomatic community. Your collaboration has been favourable, and for that, I am immensely grateful."
Vibrant dance and instrumental performances at the occasion offered a glimpse into the rich culture of Indonesia.
The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Jennely Matundu, emphasised the strong and growing bond between Namibia and Indonesia.
Matundu noted that Namibia has greatly benefitted from Indonesia's expertise in areas such as agriculture, fisheries, and human resources.
"Namibia and Indonesia featured a particularly warm and transcendental convention, which takes its place to the 1960s when the people of Namibia were fighting for national independence. Namibia will eternally be grateful to your great country and people for having stood firmly with us during our liberation struggle."
