The Namibia Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) had its first Election Task Force meeting with political parties participating in the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly Elections.

The NBC, through its Director General, Stanley Similo, informed the political parties about free and equal airtime allocation, the NBC's code of conduct for elections, and other issues relating to elections.

Similo announced that it will provide a total of 5,040 minutes of free airtime for political parties contesting the November 2024 elections.

This includes 420 minutes on television and 4,620 minutes on radio, ensuring equal coverage for all 21 political parties.

"The airtime spread across NBC's platforms will allow each party to broadcast their messages to the public during the campaign period."

The discussions with the political parties also included free coverage of three major campaign rallies.

The director general also explained that equal free airtime allocation content will be broadcast from 4th November to November 24.

Political parties are required to submit their campaign materials by October 29th. This is aimed at ensuring fair and balanced media representation during the electoral process.
