The Keetmanshoop-based Illeni Early Childhood Development Centre has received a generous donation of fruit trees and seeds to kick-start a backyard garden project.

The backyard gardening project aims to promote nutritional food and environmental awareness among children.

The donation was made possible by the outgoing Miss Keetmanshoop Agriculture, Industrial, and Tourism Expo (KAITE), Adelaide Both.

The gardening project donation ceremony also saw the handover of a playground to the centre by the Anglo-American Namibia Foundation, which sponsored the construction.
