Despite its proposed mining operations still being halted, Uranium One continues with its corporate social responsibility aspects in the Omaheke Region by assisting vulnerable residents.

The Manager for Strategic Development at Headspring Investment, Venessa Bohitile, stressed that the company took three days to engage residents in the Omaheke Region to raise awareness about their proposed mining project and hear public views regarding the envisaged uranium extraction work along the Stampriet Aquifer.

Bohitile pointed out that in the meantime the company is spending funds towards the education and youth development programme and assisting local soup kitchens that cater for malnourished people in the region.

With regard to the Uranium One project, Gobabis residents welcomed the information session, adding that given the number of jobs that will be created once the mine begins operation, the living standard of the residents will be transformed.
