The party agents from various political parties in the ||Kharas Region have lauded the just-ended special voting and counting processes at the W.K. Rover Hall polling station in Keetmanshoop as transparent.
Officers from the security cluster and seagoing staff participated in the special voting held yesterday.
A total of 609 ballots were cast for the presidential election, while the tally for the national election was 601.
Swapo Party presidential candidate Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah garnered 364 votes, followed by IPC's Panduleni Itula with 107 votes, LPM's Bernadus Swartbooi with 55, PDM's McHenry Venaani with 41, and AR's Job Amupanda with 36.
Each of the other presidential candidates, including Vaino Amuthenu, Evilastus Kaaronda, and Mike Kavekotora, only managed one vote.
In the national election, the Swapo Party scored the highest votes of 326, followed by IPC with 81, LPM with 65, AR with 60, and PDM with 46.
APP, NEFF, and Swanu each got 4 votes, while CoD received 3, NDP 2, NUDO 1, and UPM 1.
These votes were posted at polling stations; however, they have not been officially announced by the Electoral Commission of Namibia.
Just a few minutes before the closing of the polling station at 21:00, polling officers were forced to temporarily halt the voting process because of ballot shortages.
About nine eligible registered voters had patiently waited for the arrival of the ballot papers that had to be transported from Aus.
ECN officials attributed the ballot paper shortage to more than the estimated voter turnout.
