Residents of Tsintsabis Settlement in Oshikoto's Guinas Constituency say they are headed to next week's polls with mixed feelings, largely disappointed with the lack of development in their area.

The community says they are tired of surviving from government handouts.

Tsintsabis is predominantly made up of the Hai||om and other San tribespeople.

High levels of school dropouts are the result of many not qualifying for job opportunities.

Tsintsabis was declared a settlement in 2020.

The settlement has one combined school, a police station, a clinic, mini markets, shebeens, and a resettlement office, whose construction is nearing completion.

Residents are further demanding plot allocations for gardens, open markets, a bigger health centre, and a social worker from the community to assist at the clinic.

Tsintsabis settlement, northeast of Tsumeb, is home to over 3,000 residents.
