With rain showers having been received in most parts of Namibia, the ploughing season has also begun.
It is against this background that Eenhana Constituency Councillor in Ohangwena Olivia Hanghuwo is appealing to the Ministry of Agriculture to distribute more seeds.
Hanghuwo said subsistence farmers are without seeds due to the drought and poor harvest experienced last season.
Subsistence farmers in and around Eenhana queued up at the constituency office over the weekend in the hope of receiving government-subsidised certified seeds.
Unfortunately, the ministry did not have sufficient seeds and could only cater to 100 farmers.
Hanghuwo said people need to cultivate and plant certified seeds early to germinate and produce a good harvest to combat hunger.
