The Namibian Police in the Otjozondjupa Region have recorded two suicides in Otjiwarongo and Grootfontein on Monday.
According to regional community liaison officer, Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, an 87-year-old Grootfontein-based community activist, Uwe Rathman's body was discovered in a motor vehicle parked in his garage at erf 27 on Moltke Street at around 19:00.
Police reports finding a vacuum cleaner pipe with one end squeezed through a window and connected to the exhaust pipe on the other.
Rathman left a suicide note next to his body.
His next of kin are informed, and the body was transported to Grootfontein State Hospital Mortuary.
No foul play is suspected, and police investigations continue.
In Otjiwarongo, another suicide was recorded after the body of an unidentified man was found hanging from a tree near the Army Base shooting range at 17:00.
Mbeha says the deceased was found hanging from a tree with a black cloth around his neck.
The deceased was found by a worker at a military base' shooting range.
There was no suicide note at the scene.
The deceased's body was transported to Otjiwarongo State Hospital for certification.
Police are appealing to anybody who has a missing relative to come forward and identify the body.
