The Namibian Police in the Otjozondjupa Region have recorded two suicides in Otjiwarongo and Grootfontein on Monday. 

13 children are on record having committed suicide over the past year. 

This and the alarming rate of suicide among men are among the top concerns of the |Khomas Suicide Prevention Taskforce.

 Alcohol abuse, a lack of emotional self-regulation and listening skills are the top social causes of gender-based violence and suicides in Namibia.

This is according to a therapist from Swakopmund, Marcella Katjijova, who has urged the public to prioritise mental health care.

Onayena Police in the Oshikoto Region recorded two suicides this week.

Both incidents happened on Monday.

One incident took place at Onethika-Ontananga Village when a 53-year-old man hanged himself in his sleeping room with an electrical wire.
