The southern settlement of Grünau is setting its sights on achieving village status this year, 2025.
The acting Senior Administrator at the Grünau Settlement Office, Sara Jacobs, told nbc News that several transformative projects are underway and emphasised the community's commitment to growth and development.
The developments, some completed and others in progress, aim to enhance Grünau's administrative capabilities and attract investment, marking a significant step toward a brighter future for the community.
"The projects that are done are wastewater boreholes, which are completed; the sewer line is also completed. As you can see, we also have interlocks, so the third phase is also completed in Grünau, and then we've also allocated erven to the residents, to all of them that applied."
Other initiatives to tackle unemployment include leveraging the anticipated green hydrogen developments in the southern region and updating a new database to streamline opportunities.
The settlement has received positive feedback from residents regarding its efforts. Jacobs attributed this to the office's transparent and inclusive approach.
As Grünau progresses towards its goal of converting from a settlement to a village, these initiatives underscore its commitment to sustainable development and improving the quality of life for its residents.
The settlement is optimistic that these efforts will pave the way for a more prosperous 2025 in the south.
