One blood donation has the power to save up to three lives, and that's what inspires Kauna Shikwambi to make regular trips to the Blood Donation Centre.
In an interview on the Namibia Connects programme, Shikwambi shared her heartfelt reasons for continuously donating blood and the impact it has on others.
The Blood Transfusion Service of Namibia (NBTS) is facing critically low blood stocks and has issued an urgent appeal for eligible donors to step forward and help replenish the supply.
A Windhoek resident, Shikwambi, who also serves as the national spokesperson for the Namibian Police Force, has added her voice to the call, encouraging others to donate this life-saving resource.
She began her journey as a blood donor years ago while serving as a junior police officer at the Windhoek Police Station.
She emphasised the importance of regular blood donations and urged those hesitant to donate due to the lack of monetary incentives to reconsider, highlighting the life-saving impact of this selfless act.
Senior producer at the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation, Timo Andreas, also made his first blood donation this week.
He shared what inspired him to take this important step and join the cause of saving lives.
Earlier this week, Frieda Vatileni-Asino, the Public Relations Officer for the Blood Transfusion Service of Namibia, issued a heartfelt appeal, urging blood donors across the country to step forward and donate.
