The Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund has appealed to motorists to be cautious of heavy rains across Namibia that have created hazardous driving conditions.
MVA Fund Chief Executive Officer, Rosalia Hausiku, cautions of slippery roads, reduced visibility, and less effective braking systems, all of which can significantly heighten road crashes.
The police have recorded over 400 road crashes and 80 fatalities during the festive season.
Unsafe overtaking, lack of patience among drivers, and grazing animals near highways have been cited as contributors to the rising road incidents.
Hausiku advises motorists to reduce their speed, maintain safe following distances, and remain vigilant to mitigate further loss of life.
She urges all road users to prioritise safety as they navigate challenging roads and weather conditions.
