The highly anticipated MTC Maris Cup competition is now set to begin in just over two weeks, with the revised schedule confirming the Round of 16 matches will kick off on Saturday, 25 January 2025.
Jointly launched by MTC and the Namibia Football Association (NFA) on 7 November 2024, the MTC Maris Cup was introduced as a key initiative to advance Namibian club football in the top-tier league. Initially scheduled to commence on 16 January, organizers have now confirmed the updated start date and fixtures.
The action begins at the Dr. Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek with four matches slated for Saturday, 25 January. KK Palace will battle Khomas Nampol, followed by Young African taking on Young Brazilians. Okahandja United will square off against Blue Waters, and UNAM will conclude the day against Eeshoke Chula Chula.
The excitement continues on Sunday, 26 January, with Cuca Tops facing FC Ongos, Civics clashing with Julinho Athletic, Mighty Gunners taking on Tigers, and Blue Boys locking horns with African Stars.
All 16 teams from the Debmarine Namibia Premiership will compete in this knockout tournament, which promises thrilling action and significant rewards.
Each participating team will receive N$30,000 for travel and preparation expenses, while the ultimate champions will walk away with a grand prize of N$1.5 million.
