King Felipe VI of Spain announced Africa as a key focus of Spain’s new Spain-Africa Strategy 2025-2028 during a New Year’s reception for the Diplomatic Corps in Madrid. The plan aims to deepen cooperation through dialogue, sustainable development, stronger economic and social ties, enhanced security efforts, and support for inclusive governance across the continent.

Namibia’s Ambassador to France, Albertus !Aochamub, welcomed the initiative, stressing its potential to benefit both Africa and Spain. “Spain’s new strategy reflects a commitment to meaningful partnership with Africa. By prioritizing dialogue, development, and mutual respect, it supports Africa’s vision for growth and progress,” he said.

The strategy also includes expanding Spain’s diplomatic presence in Africa, increasing high-level engagement, and collaborating with regional bodies like the African Union, said the !Aochamub.
