A strategic frame workshop to devise actionable programmes, activities, and projects to guide the Omaheke Region's agenda for sustainable growth and the needs of its residents is underway in Otjiwarongo in the Otjozondjupa Region.

Addressing the three-day workshop, Omaheke Regional Council Chairperson Ignatius Kariseb said the engagement is necessary to address the region's needs for economic growth, industrialisation, education, health care, water, and sanitation.

"These initiatives must address the pressing needs of our region. Every project must align with the overarching goals of sustainable development, and each one must have measurable outcomes that directly benefit the people of Omaheke."

Priority will also be given to high youth unemployment in the region, which stands at 39%, which Kariseb says can be addressed by job creation and skills development programs.

"This is not just a statistic. It is a crisis that demands immediate and decisive action. Our youth represent the future of Omaheke and Namibia as a whole. Yet, without viable employment opportunities, they risk being left behind. High unemployment threatens to stifle the potential of an entire generation and create lasting social and economic challenges for our region."

Kariseb called on participants to ensure the regional economic stability, agriculture, water, energy and infrastructure goals to align and contribute to the broader national development objectives for the next five years.

The workshop is being held under the theme "Strategic Vision for Sustainable Development," which calls for action and reminds the council of the collective responsibility to build a prosperous and sustainable future for all.
